Auto packager combines three machines in one

A three-machine packaging line assembles boxes for orders, selects wedges to hold contents in place, and then seals the boxes without heat. The Ultipack packaging line builds corrugated boxes for retail order distribution. The machine, from B+ Equipment, France, (bplus-equip.fr, In the U.S. (616) 334-5625), has been used for packaging drugs, cosmetics, and more.

Advantages include building boxes of differing heights, using the cardboard wedge to eliminate additional packing, and the automatic closer. The company says the system takes little floor space, runs efficiently, and needs little maintenance. Furthermore, says the firm, its sealed boxes are more secure than those from other systems, and they open without a cutter.

Ultipack supports common box sizes and heights, from the small 12 × 10-in. format common to e-commerce, to the large 24 × 6 in. boxes. The pharmaceutical industry has automated order selections, and until the Ultipack, it lacked a way to seal boxes without heating them, as shrink-film techniques frequently do.
