How to EDM 5- holes

Demand is high to bring into mass production next-generation products such as super-efficient fuel injectors, ultrahigh-dpi inkjet printers, and miniature satellites. So SmalTec Int., Naperville, Ill., (smaltec.com), provides micro EDMs that can make complex, small patterns with 3D shapes and perfect, round holes as small as 5-m diameter. The machines sport automated toolchangers and feature C-axis workpiece rotation. They work on materials including tungsten, copper, ceramics, and platinum. The complex shapes possible include spherical contours, V-grooves, and microfluidic channels. The company also provides a nano-measuring and micro-EDM prototype service.
