Electrical firm forms medical branch

Johnson Electric, Methuen, Mass., has formed Johnson Medtech to meet, it says, the needs of medical-device manufacturers. The company brings together the medical-device design and manufacturing expertise of the parent company's five existing firms. Johnson Medtech is to provide end-to-end design, prototyping, and manufacturing capabilities from a single source. “Most medical-device companies spend too much time managing multiple suppliers, and navigating the complexities of outsourced manufacturing,” says Johnson Electric Senior VP James Dick. “This impacts their time to market and profitability.” The new firm is said to alleviate these problems with access to micro-motors, solenoids, switches, sensors, flexi-circuits, and facilities for device assembly.
