Five companies form one medical alliance

Electronics manufacturer Solectron Corp., Milpitas, Calif. (solectron.com/smap.php) has formed the Solectron Medical Alliance Program (S-MAP). Partners include Atek Medical (disposable devices), Circle Medical (digital and analog, software, and mechanical engineering), Proven Process Medical Devices Inc. (electromechanical devices), and SRI Product Development (software, electronics, mechanical, industrial engineering and user interfaces). Members say the alliance creates a comprehensive medical-device outsourcing group for design and engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and aftermarket services and support. All S-MAP members operate medically-certified (ISO 13485:2003) facilities that comply with the FDA's Quality System Regulation.
