IP + NDA = MSC

Joe Jancsurak

Intellectual property (IP) and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) will be featured topics at the Medical Silicone Conference (MSC), Nov. 3-4, at the Sheraton Park Anaheim Resort . . . hence, the headline.

Legal expert Davy Crockett, principal of Crockett & Crockett, will discuss “The Ins and Outs of Intellectual Property.” Crockett will share his expertise on patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, and requirements for establishing each, with an emphasis on requirements for patentability and the function of patent specifications and patent claims.

Ted Kucklick, author of The Medical Device Handbook, founder and president of Cannuflow, and a regular Medical Design R&D Notebook contributor, will discuss the “ABCs of NDAs.”  A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is an accepted mechanism for maintaining confidentiality among parties collaborating on a new technology, but what are its basic elements?  What is needed in addition to the NDA to make it enforceable? And when is it best not to sign off on an NDA?  Kucklick will answer these questions and more.
