The AirPouch division of Automated Packaging Systems, Streetsboro, Ohio, (airpouch.com) introduced larger air-pillow sizes for its Express 3 Void-Fill System. The electrically driven, portable unit requires no compressed air to inflate individual pillows that are 8 × 10 in. and 8 × 12 in. EZ-Tear perforations make it simple to separate the pillows. The machine produces air pillows at a rate of more than 50 ft/min.

The system offers higher yields, lower costs, and longer run-time between changeovers than other packaging materials such as peanuts and paper. A box with 3,000 linear ft can be inflated up to 300 ft3 of void fill material.

AirPouch Express 3's pillow material is made of DuraClear polyethylene, which is stronger than most LDPE materials and comes fan-folded in boxes that contain 50 to 100% more material than would be found on most rolls. DuraClear is puncture resistant and the sealing process prevents air leaks. The amount of air per pillow is adjustable for the best packing conditions.
