Laser Marker Does not Mar Parts

A laser system lets users mark critical metal and plastic components without marring the surface finish. Electrox, Indianapolis, Ind., (www.electrox.com) says the Raptor system uses EF Technology that generates exceedingly short energy pulses — 25 ns as compared with 70 to 200 ns in other systems. This results in high peak powers (up to 10kW) combined with low-pulse energies, which almost eliminates damage around marks. EF also delivers exceedingly small spots, typically 70µ from a 254 mm lens. The Raptor has a small laser head fully sealed to IP67, and is entirely air cooled, eliminating water or refrigerant circuits. The unit plugs into a single-phase outlet.
