The AC610M and AC630M grades from Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc., Mount Prospect, IL, (sumicarbide.com) combine advanced substrates with wear-resistant Al₂O₃ and TiCN coatings for long tool life. The AC630M features excellent peeling and notch-wear resistance, according to the company. The AC610M is particularly suited for high-speed and high-efficiency cutting. The Rockford Burrall Machine Co., Rockford, Ill., says switching to the AC610M boosted tool life 50% over that of previous cutters in machining 15-5PH stainless steel at 600 sfm. Both grades come in positive and negative insert styles.
