Laser scan micrometer delicate workpieces

The LSM-902/6900 laser scan micrometer by Mitutoyo America Corporation, Aurora, IL, can measure ultra-fine wires with diameters as small as 0.005mm and cylindrical workpieces up to diameters of 25mm. The instrument has a resolution of 0.01µm, linearity of ±0.5µm, and repeatability of ±0.05µm throughout its measuring range (0.1 - 25mm). It is well suited for verification of electrical conductors, fibers, film and sheet thickness and evenness, IC chip lead intervals, laser and magnetic disk drive fluctuation, and pin-and-plug gage measurement.  The LSM-902/6900 employs a multiface, polygonal mirror and high-speed motors to generate up to 800 scans per second. This allows “freeze” motion, on-the-fly measurement suitable for verification of extrusion processes, items running on high-speed lines and those experiencing vibration. The micrometers are available with integrated or remote displays including compact DIN-size displays for panel or rack mounting. Accessories include adjustable workstages and fixturing blocks, calibration gage sets, and air blow covers for harsh environments.
