Medical Design announces its first prototyping conference

Following up on the success of its Medical Silicone Conference (MSC) events, Medical Design is pleased to announce its first-ever Medical Prototyping Conference (MPC), set for Sept 7 and 8 at the Depot Renaissance Hotel in Minneapolis. The event will feature presentations on stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), 3-D printing, fused deposition manufacturing (FDM), direct metal laser sintering (DMLS), and rapid injection molding.  MPC will focus on applying prototyping technologies in the medical device industry and exhibitors will be on hand to explain their technologies.

The following companies will be making presentations: Advanced Technology Systems, EOS, FineLine Prototyping, Materialise USA, Objet, Proto Labs, and 3D Systems. A special keynote on what engineering students are being taught about prototyping will be delivered by William K. Durfee, Professor and Director of Design Education, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Minnesota.

“With MSC and now MPC, we believe we have an event format that works well for attendees, presenters, and exhibitors alike,” says Bill Rodman, publisher of Medical Design. “Our conference program and lunches for both events are held in the same space as the exhibits.  With many breaks scheduled throughout both days, attendees have ample opportunities to visit exhibitors, and exhibitors appreciate the opportunity to listen and learn from the quality presentations. These niche events are important to our industry.”
