Plans to merge have been announced by Milan-based SAES Getters S.p.A., a manufacturer of equipment and developer of applications for vacuums and ultra-pure gases, and Memry Corp., Bethel, Conn. (memry.com) a manufacturer of nitinol and polymer-based products for medical devices. The plan has been unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies. The transaction is valued at about $77.7 million. Getters will acquire 100% of Memry's equity.
