Minnesota Rubber to manufacturing FasTac Flex

EN ISO 13485:2003 certified supplier Minnesota Rubber and Plastics, Minneapolis, (mnrubber.com) will manufacture the FasTac Flex, a tool for implanting epicardial lead. The device is owned by Enpath Medical, Plymouth, Minn. (enpathmedical.com). The cooperation exemplifies the medical device industry trend of complete manufacturing for an OEM. The outsourcing arrangement has been effective for Enpath Medical because doing so let it introduce the device to the medical community in a timely manner. Minnesota Rubber says it transformed Enpath Medical's product concept into a manufacturable product that hit targets with the first operating prototype and in about 60 days. “Minnesota Rubber has a good reputation in this area and put together a team headed by Larry Klimek that included component designers, material specialists, mold designers, and process engineers.
