Phillips Plastics Corp, Menomonie, Wisc. (phillipsplastics.com) has invested $2.6 million in a new Elino Metal Injection Molding (MIM) furnace to increase its capacity for clients in need of several million parts per year. The German-made furnace combines continuous debind and sintering capabilities in one unit. It also takes nearly 1,800 ft2 of floor space and is capable of processing about 70 pounds of MIM parts/hr with a maximum operating temperature of 1,450C (2,640F). “This furnace doubles the production capacity and includes state-of-the-art controls for unprecedented quality and repeatability,” says Engineering Manager for MIM Tony Pelke.
