A Plasma For Hard-to-Treat Surfaces

A machine that generates a variable-chemistry plasma treats surfaces to improve adhesion of coatings, adhesives, inks, labels, and other markings. The Dyne-A-Mite VCP system is an in-line treatment that eliminates costly chemical priming, etching, and vacuum processes.

Variable-chemistry plasma from Enercon Industries Corp., Menomonee Falls, Wis., (enerconind.com) is an etching and functionalizing process that treats surfaces with different characteristics depending on the gas chemistry employed. The Dyne-A-Mite VCP blends air (mostly oxygen and nitrogen) with other gases and deposits various chemical groups on the substrate surface to improve surface energy that lets inks and adhesives stick tightly.

The system treats and cleans all types of polymers, elastomers, and glass. It treats extruded, pultruded, molded, and formed materials as well as PE, PP, PET, nylon, vinyl, polystyrene, polycarbonate, PVC, and other types of thermoformed and thermoset plastics.
