Software for 6 and 16-Axis Packaging Machines

IndraMotion for Packaging combines real-time motion control with an IEC 61131-3 compliant PLC, application-specific functions, and PLC open-motion function blocks. The basic system from Bosch Rexroth Corp., Hoffman Estates, Ill., (boschrexroth-us.com), features up to six axes for carton erecting and labeling. A Rexroth HMI makes a direct connection to the drive by serial, Ethernet, or Fieldbus.

An enhanced version, based on IndraMotion MLC, controls up to 16 axes for cartoners and form, fill, and seal machines. Up to 64 controllers can communicate for precise synchronization of an entire line or process. A controller base module has standardized communication interfaces such as Ethernet, Profibus (master/slave), RS232, and Sercos.

Based on Rexroth's VisualMotion, the advanced controller handles up to 40 axes/controller and offers electronic line shafting, synchronization, and coordinated motion for palletizers, and top loaders. This system performs on-the-fly synchronization and changes between different products and materials.

IndraMotion for Packaging provides off-line simulation and on-line tools such as monitoring and debugging. Accessories include predictive maintenance routines.
