Trumpf Medical to expand
Trumpf Medical Systems Inc (us.trumpf-med.com), announced plans to expand its operations on a 2.5-acre site in Charleston, SC, nearby its current headquarters. The site will house its corporate office, manufacturing operations, and product showroom. Trumpf plans to invest $5.58 million and create 29 new jobs within the next three years.
According to Trumpf President and CEO Andy Reding, a surge in new contracts prompted the company to begin searching for a new location in 2007. It considered other Trumpf-owned properties in Connecticut, New Jersey and Michigan, but Reding cited a growing cluster of medical technology companies as one of many factors that led to the Charleston decision.
Trumpf manufactures and markets LED surgical lights, operating room tables, ceiling-mounted equipment, management systems, and patient transport solutions for healthcare facilities throughout North America.
The new 27,000-sq.-ft. facility will include a full-scale surgical suite, featuring an interactive environment for planning and designing operating rooms, ICUs and emergency departments. The building, which can be expanded to 49,000-sq.-ft. to accommodate future growth, is expected to be finished by early fall.
