U.K. company brings laser micro machining to U.S.
U.K.-based OpTek Systems is expanding operations in North America by establishing sales and support in New England and with additional facilities in early 2007 for laser micromachining and fiber-optic processing. The company designs and manufactures production-ready precision laser-machining equipment capable of producing micron scale features in most materials. Contract-machining services are available to develop applications, and production on a job-shop basis. “The expansion comes from demand for OpTek Systems' laser processing capability, automation, and contract services in the electronics, medical components, semiconductor, and fiber optic areas,“ says Technical Director Mike Osborne.
