Coded switch for rugged applications
A rugged version of a coded switch is designed for use in portable medical, industrial automation, and vision and imaging applications. Fremont, CA-based Elma Electronics’ M07A is a gray, coded switch that comes in 16 positions down to 2. BCD or hex versions are available upon request. Based on the company’s Type 07 switch line, the M07A is said to be a robust stainless-steel 6-mm tapped shaft (optional 3-mm versions are available). The switch meets Mil-Std-810F for salt fog and humidity and Mil-Std-202G for shock and vibration. It also features a high-strength reinforced plastic body. IP60 or IP68 front-panel sealing are available on request. The M07A is offered in THT or reflow versions and with an end-stop design or endlessly rotating. It also allows various position and coding choices, shaft styles, and various lengths, as well as customized options. Using gold-plated contacts and a nickel-plated bushing, the switch performs a minimum of 10,000 rotational cycles (a complete rotation from position 1 to the last position and back again). The switch has up to 4 Ncm switching torque and the operating temperatures range from –40 to 85°C.
