Cogmedix and iWalk partner to produce bionic lower leg system

The first bionic lower leg system to replicate lost muscle function, thereby allowing amputees to work with reduced stress to the rest of the body, will soon become reality because of a partnership between Cogmedix (www.cogmedix.net) a West Boylston, MA- based contract manufacturer, and iWalk (www.iwalkpro.com), a Cambrdge, MA-based developer of advanced bionic systems, including the PowerFoot BiOM.

The BiOM is the first in a series of advanced bionic products by iWalk that can potentially emulate physiological function through robotic replacement.

iWalk selected Cogmedix based on the company’s FDA QSR compliant manufacturing capabilities, greater Boston location and experience with complex technologies. As a subsidiary of Coghlin Companies (coghlincompanies.com), Worcester, MA, Cogmedix 126 years of contract manufacturing, experience.

iWalk also called upon Coghlin Companies’ subsidiary DCI Engineering Service, West Bolyston, MA, to document, make improvements to, and build additional test systems for deployment into manufacturing.
