Engineers behind five brands unite to build custom sensors

Several custom sensor companies have joined to form Custom Sensors & Technologies, Moorpark, Calif., (customsensors.com). “CST is a business unit of Schneider Electric and made of brands Crouzet, Kavilco, and Crydom along with Newall and Systron Donner which were divisions of BEI Technologies,” says Charles Treadway, CST president and CEO. The firm is organized to address needs for transportation, industrial, aerospace, government, and military.

The company says it will meet demands for better energy efficiency and increased safety with sensors for pressure, inertia, and other requirements. Industrial sensors include those for position, pressure, and inertia along with microcontrols, solid-state relays, motors, and actuators. Treadway says the company, with about 5,500 employees worldwide, had $710 million in sales last year and that the market is growing 7% annually.
