Power interface boards deliver enclosure power
Power Interface Boards, separate units for the power section of backplanes, facilitate pluggable power supplies, headers, and utility connectors. The interface boards, from Elma Bustronic, Freemont, Calif., (bustronic.com) use power taps and power studs wired to the power supplies. Designers can choose between the company's standard power interface and pluggable modules. The power boards come in standard 3U height and contain one or two 47-pin Positronic hot-pluggable power-supply connectors, and a 20-pin header for voltage sense and IPMB interface. Two power taps provide +5 V, two deliver 3.3 V, and four are to ground. In addition, four Fast-On blades are for -12 and +12 V. The PIB connects to the backplane by power bugs with 6/32 screws. The design also includes mounting holes to fix the PIB securely to the chassis.
