Requirements are many for medical foot controls
When it comes to foot controls for medical devices and equipment applications, there are many factors to address. Among them: weight, cleanability, storage and mobility, ingress protection, compliance with standards, optimal actuator operating forces, optimal actuator style and location, optimal stability, electrical and electronic functionality, patient safety and compliance, and aesthetic compatibility. These factors are detailed in a July/August Medical Design article, “Requirements are many for ‘medical grade’ foot controls.”
