Single-chip solutions
The 75 MSPS dual-channel AD9978A and the 72 MSPS quad-channel ADDI7004 integrated 14-bit HD image signal processors by Analog Devices, Inc, Norwood, MA, are single-chip solutions that enable designers to create multichannel CCD (charge-coupled device) or CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) HD image acquisition systems that can deliver the clarity, visibility, and accuracy to meet high-resolution requirements while consuming very little power – 280 mW (milliwatts) and 530 mW, respectively. The power consumption of each device is proportional to its sampling frequency. Both high-resolution image signal processors support designers’ efforts to standardize their image sensor interface designs across multiple platforms, eliminating the need to change or add additional components and reducing overall system cost across several models.
