Think Optical Scanning to Check Complex Injection-molded Parts

Traditional inspection tools typically yield an incomplete assessment of injection-molded parts. Cross-sectional scanning (CSS) technology from CGI, Eden Prairie, Minn., (CGIinspection.com) inspects and reverse-engineers intricate injection-molded components. The optical technology generates an ultra-dense point cloud that describes all internal and external part features, providing 100% inspection and data capture. CSS can scan most molded materials, even clear plastic. The company provides the scanning as a service, but it also sells three models of scanning systems for customers preferring in-house inspection.
