Back-Surgery Device Wins Design Award
The SpineJet MicroResector from HydroCision Inc., Billerica, Mass., (hydrocision.com), is recognized as a winner in the 2006 “Medical Design Excellence Awards“ (MDEA) at the Medical Design & Manufacturing East 2006 Conference and Exposition in New York City. HydroCision designs fluidjet-based surgical tools for minimally invasive open surgery.
MDEA is an awards program for the medical industry that annually recognizes contributions and advances in the design of medical devices.
According to HydroCision President and CEO Douglas J. Daniels, “The SpineJet MicroResector lets a growing number of surgeons and interventional pain physicians use the HydroDiscectomy by removing targeted disc tissue. Initial clinical findings demonstrate that the MicroResector treats patients in a manner that minimizes the trauma of back surgery, reduces their dependence for medication and gets them back to a normal lifestyle.”
