Training pays as APICS honors Minco
Minneapolis-based Minco, <www.minco.com> designer and manufacturer of flexible heaters, sensors and assemblies, instruments, and flexible circuits for medical diagnostic equipment and medical implant devices was named 2008-2009 Company of the Year by the Twin Cities Chapter of APICS <www.apics.org>, The Association for Operations Management. Minco received the honor, in part, for its commitment to employee training. Thirty-five Minco employees have attended Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) classes. The training equips employees with an understanding of how the different parts of an integrated ERP system work together so process improvements can be made.
“APICS <www.apics.org> training has contributed to the improvement of both our long-term and short-term operations planning,” says Minco Director of Operations David Huynik. “Because we can predict work flow more accurately, we are proactive instead of reactive in our ability to meet customer needs. We are becoming very nimble.”
The Twin Cities Chapter of APICS is the organization’s largest, with 1,000 members. The chapter had a record high 12,000 hours of educational training in 2008.
