White papers on valves, piezo, cable

• “Benefits of Using a High Flow Proportional Control Valve” is a Parker Hannifin (Precision Fluidics Division) white paper in which Parker engineer Jonathan DeSousa discusses achieving high flow in miniature proportional valves while keeping size, power and cost demands to a minimum. Miniaturization in markets such as medical, are driving changes to proportional valve development. As a result, Parker has released the new VSO-MAX high flow proportional valve, which incorporates pressure balancing technology.

• “Development of Highly Reliable Multilayer Piezo Actuators and Lifetime Tests Under DC and AC Operating Conditions” is a white paper that describes the development and lifetime tests of ceramic encapsulated actuators under ac and dc operation conditions. The actuators are compared to polymer-coated piezoceramic actuators in long-term tests. Equations and graphs for lifetime calculation under different operational and environmental conditions and special internal electrode designs for stress reduction are discussed.

• “Selecting the Right Cable System for Your Environment”, covers the electrical, mechanical, environmental, and application- specific constraints that will affect cable performance. The paper presents a systematic approach that design engineer can follow to ensure that a cable system will provide reliable performance in demanding environments and missioncritical applications.
