Laser-cutting services
Responding to increased demand over the past year, a contract manufacturer and custom plastics molder has increased its metal laser-cutting capacity. Acknowledging growth of approximately 20% in the past 12 months, particularly in the medical market, Mack Molding, Arlington, VT, has installed a TRUMPF TruLaser 2030 thin-sheet automated laser in order to meet customer needs.
Designed to be compact and offer linear material flow, the machine enables the service provider to provide laser-cutting of thicknesses of 3/4-in. in mild steel, ½-in. in stainless steel, and ¼-in. in aluminum. The unit features a suction frame that loads the machine automatically from the sheet stack as well as a rake unit that unloads finished parts for efficient material handling. Two platforms outside the safety area handle the sheets while the machine is cutting to minimize unproductive downtime. Because the machine features a maximum stacking height of 27 in. on both sides of the unit, it can run completely automatically for extended periods of time.
Specializing in medical device manufacturing, the contract services provider offers prototyping, sheet metal fabrication, and machining, as well as plastics molding.
