Medical devices go mobile: a free eBroadcast from Frost & Sullivan
As mainstream technology changes formats, medical device manufacturers must take advantage of and adapt to these changes not just to survive in a competitive market, but also to meet the needs of a tech-savvy doctors and patients. But modifying a medical device to incorporate or be housed within a new format is more difficult than replacing VHS tapes with DVDs…or Blu-Ray discs…or iTunes downloads.
The format change currently driving the market in new directions is mobile technology, and manufacturers and end-users are already seizing the opportunity and running with it. The majority of the people working in the industry are already familiar with mobile devices and smart phone technology for personal use. To explore how companies are harnessing the potential of mobile technology for the next generation of medical devices, Frost & Sullivan (Mountain View, CA) is producing a complimentary eBroadcast on May 12 titled, “Making the Most of Mobile Technology: Strategic Insights for Building Tomorrow’s Enterprise and Devices.” Featuring a live question-and-answer session throughout the broadcast, the Webinar, sponsored by Infosys Technologies Ltd (Fremont, CA), will cover the role of medical device manufacturers in moving providers and patients to a preventive healthcare model; the best way for companies to manage different platforms, users, and mobile technology applications; and how system integrators and other partners can work with medical device companies in making the leap to mobile technology.
Three speakers will address these issues and illustrate the crossroads that many manufacturers now find themselves at as they explore how to embrace mobile technology: Charlie Whelan, director, growth consulting, healthcare and life sciences, Frost & Sullivan; Vikas Jain, principal consultant, enterprise mobility, Infosys Technologies; and Sherrie Miner Conroy, director of content, Medical Design, Penton Media, Cleveland, OH.
In order to help provide strategies for improving company organization and design innovation, the speakers will cover aspects of technology integration as well as examples of mobile technology currently being used in or in development for the medical device industry. Conroy’s presentation, for example, “Medical Devices in a New Mobile World,” will discuss how mobile smart devices are finding their way into the clinical setting, even sometimes replacing large stationary equipment.
To submit a question ahead of time, register at www.frost.com/mobility. As part of the Webinar, a complimentary copy of the white paper, “Unleashing the Innovation Lion: How Medical Technology Companies Can Capture True Innovation through Collaboration in Emerging Countries” is being made available for download. Additionally, all registered participants viewing the eBroadcast will be entered in giveaway drawings for an Apple TV and a $250 credit voucher toward any one of Frost & Sullivan’s upcoming Executive MindXchange events this month.
