Portable X-ray Uncovers Flaws in Opaque Parts
The FDA's demand for 100% inspection of medical parts is easy enough when critical details are visible. But how do you check overmolded electrical connections or the proper seating of springs in sealed assemblies? The MedaScope Desktop X-ray machine from Glenbrook Technologies Inc., Randolph, N.J. (glenbrooktech.com) lets manufacturers and troubleshooters take its inspection capabilities where needed. The 45-lb machine, Medical Design magazine's Machine of the Month for April, runs on 100 to 220 Vac and comes with the company's GTI-1000 image processor and a desktop PC or laptop.
“Catheter manufacturers say they reduce product defects with this equipment by quickly detecting voids, tears, and blockages in the soft molded hubs of catheters that can occur during molding and assembly,” says Glenbrook president Gil Zweig.
