Vacuum and filter simplify prepping for surgery

The ClipVac from Surgical Site Solutions, (surgicalsitesolutions.com), Sheboygan, WI, gives surgical teams an easier, more efficient way to remove hair clipped from patients prior to surgery than current methods. The device uses a rechargeable vacuum, coupled with an operating-room-grade filter and a flexible tube and suction port that fits most electric hair clippers. After hairs are clipped, the portable ClipVac sucks them out of the way, leaving a clear view of the skin.

Clipped hairs are trapped in a disposable filter that is discarded after one use. Unlike the current method of removing hair, which is to use tape, this method does not irritate skin or lead to reactions.
