Results show R&D spending remains steady

Joe Jancsurak

According to the January online Reader Poll question, which  asked, For 2009, will your company’s research and development expenditures increase, decrease, or remain the same?, Medical Design readers and their companies overall remain committed to maintaining and to a lesser degree, increasing R&D expenditures. Nearly half (48%) answered that their company’s R&D expenditures are expected to remain the same, while 21% expect an increase. The news isn’t all positive, however, as the recession appears to have impacted 31% of the respondents who predict a decrease in R&D spending.

This month’s question is to gain a feel for the overall health of the medical-device industry’s workforce. Please take a moment to provide us with your answer. In return, you’ll get instant poll results that reflect your input, and we will report the final results next month.

Stay tuned.
