This micromotor is sterilizable

Series 2057B has an external 20-mm motor diameter and a 57-mm length. The motor uses the System Faulhaber skewed winding in combination with a rotor made of Neodymium rare-earth magnets for cog-free motion. The brushless dc motor can generate a continuous output torque up to 18 mNm at speeds to 58,000 rpm. The brushless DC motor comes in a sterilizable version capable of withstanding an autoclave. The housing of the motor is black for optimum heat dissipation. The brushless dc motor can be combined with a gearbox and encoder for a complete miniature drive system.

Position transducer reaches 85-in.

The Series M general-capability position transducer has a long displacement range, multiple mounting options, and size efficiency for OEM and high-volume applications. The line also gives users choices for electrical outputs, three mounting orientations, and displacement to a maximum of 85-in. The line also has nearly double the capabilities of competing OEM-type sensors. A reduced displacement-cable fleet angle increases repeatability and reduces cable overlap. A RoundAbout cable exit allows for 360×360° displacement orientation for control over how and where the displacement cable moves relative to the application.

Round inserts for machining hip joints

New round cutting inserts are intended for machining titanium and cobalt-chromium hip joints. The inserts optimize roughing because they impart a strong cutting edge and resist excessive notch wear. In addition, they provide excellent chip control and generate lower temperatures than other inserts, allowing operators to increase feeds and speeds to maximize production.

FEA allows working with assemblies

Comsol Multiphysics 3.3 supports parts and assemblies. So rather than import an assembly as a single unit, the FEA program recognizes each component with possibly different materials. Parts and their physics can be coupled to allow for continuity or let users define other internal border definitions, such as contact resistance. Users can also start working with a library of components, where each contains geometry, a specific physics definition, boundary settings, and set of material properties.

The software lets users locally optimize mesh for each part or a model subdomain. This allows incremental meshing so each mesh works on different subdomains. When the software is working on a solution, users can monitor a convergence plot that shows the solver's progress on a realtime graph.

Custom silicone manufacturing

Sil-Pro, an ISO 9001:2000 contract manufacturer, custom extrudes silicone for medical and related applications inside a class 10,000 clean room. Extrusions are available color matched or translucent. The company makes single and multilumen tubing, and solid rope or rod. Closed-loop feedback from a laser micrometer allows precise control of tubing dimensions throughout a process run. Custom tubing can be supplied in coils, cut to length, and with value added such as overmolding and subassembly. The company also molds liquid silicone, gum-stock, and bonds silicone parts to plastics, metal, and other silicone parts using medical-grade adhesives. Motion controller runs several axes

NYCe 4000, a rugged, high-end, compact, multi-axis industrial motion control system, combines control and drive hardware in one unit with a smaller footprint than an industrial PC. Its open software architecture makes the controller flexible for automating modules and complete machines with optimal code protection for the OEM. Up to 120 digital and analog inputs/outputs make it possible to integrate a large number of measuring units in complex process steps. Up to 62 NYCe4000 controllers can be operated in a network using standard PC technology. Search for Webcode US0353.

Pancake load cell handles up to 2,000 lb

A 4 mV/V series of pancake load cells gives users a higher capacity than those in a previous series allowed while maintaining high precision. These load cells can work on applications such as endurance testing, automation for monitoring or controlling forces, and tool-and-die wear detection. Model LCF450, for example, has eight bolt-down holes along its outer diameter and comes in anodized aluminum for lower capacities (500 lb to 2,000 lb) and 17-4 stainless steel for higher capacities (up to 10,000 lbs). The load cells have nonlinearity of ±0.1%, an operating temperature of -60 to 200°F, and a nominal deflection of 0.002 to 0.005 in.

Worlds smallest quick disconnect

An M3 threaded quick disconnect is the world's smallest. It works well in applications that need a small package, leak-tightness, durability, and light weight. This quick disconnect adds to a growing family of single and multiple line ( 4, 6, and 8-line) quick disconnects with 10-32 UNF and 1/8 NPT threads as well as tubing barbs. The M3 unit is comprised of a brass (stainless steel can also be ordered) internal end and a stainless steel external end. The entire assembly weighs only 3.4 grams. The internal end has an automatic shutoff valve and an M3 internal thread. This end is only about 16.7-mm long and has a 6-mm hexagonal body. The external end has a M3 external thread and includes a captured O-ring seal for a leak-tight connection.

How to clean stents and engrave with precision

The Advanced Lathe provides good control and repeatability in micro-abrasive blasting. It's intended for engineering development projects and full scale production. The unit propels abrasive and air out of up to five small nozzles aimed at a part rotating on a spindle. Nozzles are mounted on a blast head that moves on the x and z axes. The movement is coordinated with spindle rotation so the system can trace complex shapes, directing the abrasive stream with pinpoint accuracy. The engineering OD head has 13 adjustments for precise nozzle alignment. A large LCD screen on the front panel lets users select programs and make tooling requirements.
