Squiggle motor kit keeps designs small

An OEM evaluation kit lets designers add a squiggle SQ-100N motor to laser systems, microscopes, medical and laboratory equipment, and other scientific instruments. The kit includes a SQ-100N piezoelectric squiggle motor with over 5N axial-load capacity, a 23×3-in MC-1000 controller card, power supply, software, and all adapter cables. The kit lets designers quickly build and test the ceramic motor in existing and next-generation instruments. Applications include internal alignment of lasers, sample positioning in AFM, STM, and TEM microscopes, micromanipulation, and fluid dosing.

Versatile stepper motors

The AS1xxx stepper motors are an alternative to servo motors for small and medium capacity applications. Motors in this series have nominal current ratings from 1.0 to 5.0 A and torques ranging from 0.38 to 5 Nm. The motors have preassembled plug connectors. Planetary gear units, incremental encoders, and pre-assembled cables are available as accessories.

Miniature brushless motors pack more power

Portescap N Series slotted brushless DC motors in size 5, 6, 9, and 11 are well suited for medical and electronic assembly where speed is key. They are also available in sizes 12, 14, and 15 for applications that need high torque levels. N Series motors run at speeds up to 100,000 rpm and provide more power with less heat in a smaller package. Maximum efficiencies up to 80% facilitate longer battery life for portable medical and industrial tools.

Five-phase microstepping motor and driver

The CRK series of 5-phase microstepping motors and drivers has a drive function that reduces speed fluctuations, vibration, and noise during operation. In microstep mode, drivers have 25 preset angle selections with up to 250 microsteps per full step. The basic step angle can be adjusted to match a 2-phase stepping motor's step angles, so a switchover from the 2-phase microstep mode can be done without changing input pulses. The CRK board-level drivers measure 2.56-in. long by 1.77-in. wide and 0.98-in high and weigh 1.4 oz. The series is available in four frame sizes, 20 mm (0.79 in.), 28 mm (1.10 in), 42 mm (1.65 in.), and 60 mm (2.36 in.). Available motors include standard, high-torque, and geared models. Step motor holding torques range from 3.2 oz-in. to 230 oz-in.

Motor-CAD simulates thermal behavior

Motor-CAD Version 3 lets users design interfaces, simulation, and post-processing technologies for motors, including brushless permanent-magnet, brush permanent-magnet, single and three-phase induction, and switched reluctance among others. Motor-CAD templates include a material database for solids and can assign materials to machine components. Users can customize the format of transient solution data and reuse graph settings for alternate solutions. They can also use the differential-solution mode to compare one solution to another.
