Partnership to specialize in nanofibers

Struktol Company of America and the University of Akron have partnered to form SNS Nano Fiber Technology LLC in Uniontown, Ohio, and start production on Nanosan, a nanostructured nonwoven material. SNS combines Struktol's experience with additives and the University's polymer expertise to develop a niche market in nanofiber production. Nanosan differs from similar materials by the addition of particles into the nanofiber matrix. Proprietary technology traps various particles in the nanofiber matrix or encapsulates them within the nanofibers. Many characteristics, such as absorbing lots of liquid, are producible by varying the type of polymer nanofibers and an additive.
