PolyOne Corp., Avon Lake, Ohio, (polyone.com) a developer of specialized polymer materials, services, and solutions, has entered into an exclusive license arrangement for a series of biobased plasticizer patents owned by Battelle. The company says the global market for plasticizers is about $11 billion annually, with 90% of all production used in vinyl-based formulations. Specialty plasticizers account for about 20% of the market. PolyOne intends to develop differentiated specialty plasticizer and vinyl compounds based in part on the technologies covered by these patents.
