5kW power converter takes many input voltages

The C/B 4800 Series of 6U dc/dc and ac/dc converter modules put out from 2.4 to 5 kW. Nine dc input ranges are standard: 10 to 16, 20 to 32, 40 to 64, 50 to 80, 80 to 160, 160 to 320, 320 to 640, and 450 to 800V. AC input options are 1-Phase 115 Vac or 230 Vac, as well as 3-Phase inputs of 3 × 200 Vac, 3 × 400 Vac, or 3 × 480 Vac. Battery charging models are also available. Units feature single outputs in 10 standard ranges from 12 to 400 Vdc. All outputs are adjustable and tightly regulated to 0.2% or better (load) and 0.1% (line). Custom input and output ranges are available.

Li-ion batteries keep iStan alive

Lithium-ion batteries will go into a portable Human Patient Simulator called iStan, developed by Medical Education Technologies Inc. The iStan is a full-size, computer-driven mannequin with a pulse, heartbeat, and blinking eyes. The rechargeable, maintenance-free MP176065 battery packs will be the primary power source for the mannequin. Each simulator can accommodate up to four battery packs, depending on programming complexity and power demands. A high-energy density (375 Wh/l and 165 Wh/kg) and good charge recovery make the batteries well suited for iStan.

Low-profile DIN rail-mount power supplies

A series of low-profile DIN rail-mount power supplies are only 2.2-in. deep, making them ideal for installation in shallow enclosures. The DSP series supplies are available with nominal outputs from 5 to 24 V and power levels from 10 to 100 W in four package sizes. Load regulation is less than 1% from no load to full load, with ripple and noise below 50 mV. To compensate for cable voltage drops, the output voltage can be adjusted from the front panel, and colored LED indicators give an immediate visual confirmation of output status.

The power supplies feature universal input, letting them operate from any ac input voltage between 90 to 264 Vac, 47 to 63 Hz, without the need to reposition input voltage selector switches. Because the units are Class II (double insulated), no earth ground wire is required.

Power supplies meet California codes

A line of desktop power adapters are in compliance with California Energy Commission Tier 2 criteria and Energy Star Level IV standards for external switching power supplies. These two standards have more stringent efficiency and no-load power consumption requirements which go into effect on July 1, 2008.
