Swiss-type lathe makes quick work of complex jobs

The Cincom L32 VII Swiss-type lathe uses a “full servo system.“ Chuck clamping and workpiece collecting movements are executed by servo motors. This reduces the idle time typical with hydraulic devices and reduces power consumption and maintenance. The L32 makes parts such as medical instruments, valves, and fasteners, and handles parts up to 1.25 in. diameter × 12.5 in. long. It performs contouring, threading, milling, slotting, drilling, off-center drilling, and tapping, among other operations. It holds 20 tools, or 22 with the optional 4-ID sleeve holder. The L32 is controlled by a Windows-based NC unit.
