TODAY'S TUBING TECHNOLOGY

Molded silicone eliminates fittings and leaks

Molded silicone components are suited for medical, laboratory, research, development, biomedical, and pharmaceutical applications. Components consist of tubing and hose assemblies, stoppers, and sealing systems for medical devices, bottles, laboratory equipment, and process and storage containers. The devices are made of a Class VI silicone elastomer that meets FDA standards for the utmost in purity and they are manufactured in-house in a controlled environment. The components are autoclavable, sterilizable, reusable, and offer excellent chemical resistance properties. Temperature usage ranges from -100 to 400°F.

Fluoroplastic heat-shrink tubing

USP Class VI-compliant heat-shrink tubing is made in a Class 10,000 clean room. The manufacturer designs, develops, and recovers fluoroplastic heat shrink tubing over products to reduce scrap and allow immediate use. Heat-shrink tubing can be used on surgical instruments, catheters, and other medical devices. Radiopaque products are also offered to improve x-ray viewing. All of the heat-shrink material can be laser marked, scored, drilled, specially packaged, and bar coded to fit requirements.

Stainless steel tubes easily bend inside blood vessels

The Actone is a hollow multi-stranded stainless steel tube used for endoscopic and catheter applications. Compared to a hypotube, the Actone has 1:1 torque, excellent kink-free flexibility at small radius bends to manipulate the final device through tortuous vessels, and can be made from SS304, SS316, Ni-Ti, and MP35N. Actone comes in four types. Standard has round strands, Flat has centerless ground strands for thinner wall thickness, Swaged is hammered and stiff to minimize elongation, and Ultra-thin has a flat wire that makes the ID up to 85% of the OD.

Multi-lumen small diameter tubing

Single and multi-lumen small diameter tubing is available with inside diameters down to 0.002-in., walls as thin as 0.002-in., and outside diameters to 0.5-in. Tubing can be extruded in nylon, polyurethane, polycarbonate, acetal, liquid crystal polymer, and other engineering resins. Melt temperatures are maintained to within one degree and screw RPM is held almost constant while on-line lasers monitor and maintain tubing outside diameters through feedback control loops. Inside diameters and wall thicknesses are precisely monitored through on-line statistical-process-control. All manufacturing meets strict quality-assurance requirements.
