Testing and certification organization TÜV SÜD America, Danvers, Mass. (tuvamerica.com) says it has been recognized as a Notified Body, able to perform services related to EMC Directive 2004/108/EC. The European Commission acknowledged the firm as a valid organization nominated as a U.S. Conformity Assessment Body (equivalent to an EU Notified Body) for the Electromagnetic Compatibility Sector of the U.S.-EU Mutual Recognition Agreement.

This recognition means TÜV can review and assess product manufacturers' technical documentation and verify compliance with European EMC Directive 2004/108/EC, which became effective July, 2007. The organization says a free webinar, Overview of the New EU EMC Directive, helps electronics manufacturers prepare for the directive.
