Acrylic-based multipolymer for antimicrobial devices

Evonik

Designed to help reduce and prevent device-related infection, an acrylic-based multipolymer compound is suitable for use in medical devices that incorporate antimicrobial agents. Cyrolite Protect from Evonik Cyro, Essen, Germany, is a green-tinted transparent antimicrobial compound for Class I and II devices.

Suitable for use in luer connectors, spikes, Y-sites, check valves, and filter housings, the compound features mechanical, thermal, and optical properties that meet ASTM standards. The BPA-free compound also offers chemical resistance properties and resistance to plasticizers found in flexible PVC tubing.

Available in pellet form, the compound can be used in injection molding or extrusion lines with three-zone general-purpose screws. It also can be sterilized using gamma, e-beam, and EtO methods.
