Flexible silicone adhesive insulates and more
A flexible ready-to-use silicone elastomer that tolerates high temperature, Master Sil 700, from Master Bond Inc., Hackensack, N.J. (masterbond.com) seals and joins metals, plastics, and provides electrical insulation, protective coatings, and formed-in-place gaskets. It's a good insulator with a dielectric strength of 530 volts/mil, and 400% elongation. It is also well suited for encapsulating sensitive electronic components because it protects against vibration and shock protection.
The company adds that the material's pasty consistency will not sag, slump, or run off. It cures at ambient temperatures to a flexible rubbery solid when exposed to atmospheric moisture and remains flexible at -75 to 400°F.
