Several medical-device suppliers chose MD&M West to make news. Among them:

• Bayer MaterialScience LLC, Pittsburgh, launched its Baymedix brand of medical products, which includes lubricious, hydrophilic and drug-eluting coatings; wound-dressing foams, and topical tissue adhesives. The name also will be applied to custom- tailored polymers.

• Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, TN, and DD Studio Carlsbad, CA, announced a collaboration to advance medical-device designs. The firms unveiled a double-dose prototype cup made of Tritan copolyester.

• GW Plastics, Inc, Bethel, VT, announced the formation of its GW/PD (product development) Group, which will focus on industrial and concept design, product development and design for manufacturability, FDA compliant design controls, design verification, and validation.

• MicroCare Corp, New Britain, CT, launched its MicroCare Medical division to supply advanced cleaners, carrier additives, coatings, and lubricants to medical device designers, engineers, and manufacturers.
