To say silicone elastomers for medical devices represent a dynamic business with its own suppliers, compounders, processors, and materialspecific challenges, is hardly a stretch. Such an industry deserves its own event, which is why Medical Design is proud to present the first-ever Medical Silicone Conference set for April 6-7 in Minneapolis.

Together wi th our sponsors – DME, Nu- Sil Silicone Technology, Phillips Plastics, Dow Corning, Shin- Etsu Silicones, Bluestar Silicones, Sigma Plastic Services, SiMatrix, American Kuhne, Gayson Silicone Dispersions, and SMC Ltd. – we’ve put together a trends-driven program featuring industry experts on the following:

• Silicones used in long-term implantable devices
• Antimicrobial silicones – where and how they’re being used to reduce infections
• Advancements in fabricating multidimensional parts
• Challenges associated with combination components and how they’re being addressed
• How to cut part development and production costs using virtual part, mold, and process evaluation
• Advancements in tooling for liquid silicone rubber

Keynote speaker, former U.S. Department of Justice Prosecutor and former AdvaMed Special Counsel Nancy Singer, is going to open attendees’ eyes to just how easy it is for companies to leave themselves prone to lawsuits based on language contained in files and documents. You don’t want to wait until a lawsuit rears its ugly head to learn that your documents contained language that can be used against you in court. Avoid that painful and costly scenario and plan on attending Singer’s presentation.

Says Singer: “Hastily written emails and other documents lie in the files of many companies. [Some have] paid large penalties based partly on statements in their files and emails. Had their staffs been trained on how to write appropriate documents, these firms might have saved millions of dollars.”

Are you curious to know what Singer knows? Want to know more about materials for long-term implantables or advancements in antimicrobials or any other topics mentioned earlier? Then visit www.medicalsiliconeconfrerence.com to register.
