Plastics design and engineering

A provider of reaction injection molding (RIM) services for plastic housings used in medical equipment has introduced a collaborative process to help OEMs produce stylized enclosures and housings more efficiently while maintaining high quality standards. PREMOLD, Oconomowoc, WI, has launched its PREMOLD Process, which includes design consultation, detailed engineering, and comprehensive manufacturing solutions. The company says its collaborative approach allows it to address potential problems before production, resulting in better fit-ups and a more cost-effective solution. The process includes the following services:

  • Design consultation—Provide guidance on how to make part designs more efficient for the RIM process, convert part designs from processes such as pressure forming to the RIM method, and ensure that assemblies meet precise design specifications.
  • Detailed engineering—Address potential production problems and offer advice on lowering part and tooling costs without sacrificing quality.
  • Comprehensive manufacturing solutions—Provide vertically integrated production in an ISO 9001–certified facility that offers tool-building, prototype development, molding, painting, decorating, EMI coating, and subassembly services.
