Digital servo drives for high-power applications
Two higher-powered Compax3 all-digital servo drives from Parker Hannifin Corp., Electromechanical Automation Div., Rohnert Park, Calif., (parkermotion.com), round out the lower-voltage input option (up to 230 Vac) by increasing the current output to 10 A and 15 A rms. Eight distinct power levels now range from 300 W to 20 kW of continuous motor shaft power.
The new drives are similar to their lower-powered siblings, featuring auto-tuning, an internal function generator on all units, support for Stegmann single and multi-turn absolute encoders to dispense with limit switches, homing routines, and various control levels.
Compax3 ServoManager software comes with easy and intuitive diagnostic screens, graphical tuning utilities, an OS download tool, HTML Help tools, an S-curve acceleration calculator, and a motor-configuration wizard for use with non-Parker motors.
