Five steps to a better linear drive
A Web-based linear-motion sizing and selection tool from Danaher Motion, Wood Dale, Ill., lets OEMs speed a machine's design and improve its operation in five simple steps. Linear Motioneering walks users through a thorough, intuitive sequence that selects a slide table based on user inputs. The site then generates 3D CAD models, motor requirements, life and safety factors, lead time, and pricing information with options listed by price.
The site also produces an email of the inquiry and quote to document the application, and a single part number that includes specified options should you decide to order. In addition, a motor-interface selector lets users enter motor dimensions, or any major manufacturer's motor model number, and the system configures a mating flange and coupling. The software provides safety factors for critical system components so users can make decisions based on the safety margin of the selection in addition to price.
Users can adjust the move profile and the software quickly recalculates resulting loads and safety factors. An environmental screen guides users to other selections, and displays appropriate options, such as materials and coatings suitable for the environment. Linear Motioneering is available free at www.danahermotion.com/linearmotioneering.
