Micro motors engineered for maximum torque in tight spaces
Three electronically commutated (EC) micro motors (by Maxon) are for medical-device applications requiring high-density performance. To generate the highest possible torque in smallest of spaces the company uses NdFeB magnets in the rotors. To maximize precision and load capacity, the motors’ ball bearings are pre-loaded. The EC 10 (10-mm diam) outputs of 8W and reaches a maximum permissible speed of 80,000 rpm. The short version of the EC 13 (13-mm diam) produces a maximum 6W. The maximum allowable speed on each is 50,000 rpm. The EC 10 and EC 13 motors are available with or without Hall sensors.
