Study predicts global medical disposable market to near $170 billion in 2014
A Freedonia Research study forecasts 5.5% annual growth through 2014 for medical disposable products worldwide and predicts sales of such products will reach $169 billion. The study reports that developed countries combined will absorb more than 70% of this total, while demand in developing countries will expand faster as the availability
and accessibility of basic health care services improve.
Wound management supplies are expected to remain the top-selling group of medical disposables, with demand forecast to increase 4.6% annually to $30 billion in 2014.
World demand for non-woven medical disposables is expected to increase 4.4% annually to $25 billion in 2014.
And diagnostic and laboratory disposables are projected to register global demand of nearly $23 billion in 2014, up 7% annually from 2009, making them the fastest growing product type according to the study.
