MedTech execs’ trip underscores commitment to Chinese market

In a first-of-its-kind event, a delegation of chief executives from some of the top American medical technology companies recently held a successful series of meetings in Beijing with key Chinese government officials to strengthen the U.S. industry’s presence there. The trip, coordinated by the Washington-DC-based Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), focused on the industry’s commitment to providing patients in China with access to the innovative medical technologies and diagnostics developed by U.S. based companies in support of China’s reform of its healthcare system.

Fast curing Master Bond UV18Med is a single component adhesive/sealant that meets USP Class VI specifications for medical applications. UV 18MED offers durable, flexible bonds and low superior resistance to water and chemicals. It has a Shore D hardness of 55-60 and an elongation >35%. It adheres well to a wide range of substrates including metals, glass and most plastics. Shrinkage upon cure is substantially less than conventional UV cure systems.



Protecting intellectual property

The medical devices industry has seen its fair share of large patent lawsuits in recent years, with settlements and fines ranging from tens of millions to billions of dollars. Some recent examples: Medtronic, Inc, paid $400 million to Abbott Laboratories to settle a lawsuit over stent and stent delivery systems, and Boston Scientific Corp agreed to pay Johnson & Johnson $1.73 billion to settle two stent-related lawsuits.
